Sam, I saw by chance on-line (Falkirk Herald) that there's a pre-season game this Sunday - maybe worth highlighting on Home Page news. http://www.falkirkherald.co.uk/sport/Falkirk-welcomes-US-college-basketball.6496223.jp Bill

FURY'S BAIRD HITS 28 TO TAKE SCOTS TO BRONZE
Clark Eriksson Fury woman's star 21 year old Gillian Baird played the game of her life in Scotland's third place play off in the European C Championships in Armenia. Baird - Fury's athletic 6ft forward hit 28 points in 27 minutes and grabbed 10 rebounds as she led the Scots to bronze medal position over Moldova. The Scots who had finished second in the group stages with a loss to Malta but a win over Wales took them to the semi-finals where they lost to the hosts -Armenia. That threw up a third place play-off with Moldova and Baird stepped up big time. The Fury star not only finished the match as the games top scorer but her performance made her the tournaments no.1 in field goal percentage. Baird only brought into the Scotland team a year ago is Scotland's most athletic player and was linked to Olympic rowing after she qualified to the final 30 in the UK after trials throughout the country.

TESCO VOUCHERS
A BIG thank you to all collectors who have raised an impressive 3,624 in vouchers (including recycled printer cartridges that also earned vouchers) and these have now been submitted to TESCO and lie in the club account which totals 3,870 due to some carry forward form last year. JB is considering how best to use these in the future.

With regard to the top collector and Ruth's donation of a £100 worth of Partylite candle products as a prize, I consulted with those who submitted the largest volume (JB and June Plummer) and the joint top collctors were identified as Diane and Gemma who will share the prize.
Diane and Gemma please contact Ruth Anderson by leaving her a message at her my page on this site - please leave a message via the envelope logo on the left hand side of the page to claim your prize.

Thanks, Bill Anderson.

FURY JUNIORS STAR FOR SCOTLAND IN FRANCE
Fury had 5 of their double championship winning junior mens team playing in France for the Scotland Junior Mens team - the sixth member of the squad -Bryan Munnoch remained at home to recover from a knee injury. Scotland won their group in the 8 team International tournament held in Cherbourg, France after defeating Portugal, Manchester Magic under 19's. They also played Switzerland in the opening group stages but despite losing by 3 topped the group and played Austria in the semi-finals. A tight game saw the Scots lose to the eventual winners by 6 and face Manchester again in the play-off for 3rd place. Manchester had just failed to defeat Tunisia by a basket to make the final. The Scots took third spot with a great defensive performance despite Kings Lee Riley not playing in the last match through a recurring injury. A 17 point win was a great finish for the Scotland team, while England finished a dismal 6th. Ali Fraser was voted into the Tournament All Star Five along with Lee Riley, two of the Swiss team and one Austrian - Austria winning the final over the Swiss by 3 points. Jonny Bunyan captained the Scots and did a great job motivating the whole squad who played some great basketball throughout the week-end. Bunyan, Fraser started all games with Cameron Buchan and Euan Cameron also starting on occassions. Euan Cameron was runner-up in the 3 point shooting contest held between the eight teams and David Anderson was third in the Dunk Contest. Scotland also won the Fair Play Trophy and a Trophy awarded to the best Supporters. All Fury players parents were at the tournament and certainly made themselves heard. A strong Fury presence in the Scotland team saw on a number of occassions between 2 and 4 Fury players on the court together. The Fury players were a credit to their club with Bunyan and Fraser playing 8 and 7 full games respectively within a ten day period it was also a testimony to their stamina and fitness.
